Best Bar None
From the 127 eligible premises we have received 57 applications from licensees within the town centres of Leven, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Anstruther, St Andrews, Cupar, Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline, Rosyth & Inverkeithing.
The Best Bar None scheme aims to recognise and reward well run licensed premises and encourage best practice in public safety with a strong commitment to making sure the customer can enjoy themselves in a safe and pleasant environment.
The Fife Best Bar None Scheme is supported by many of our local partner agencies including Fife Fire & Rescue Service, Fife Council, Scottish Licensed Traders Association and nationally by the Scottish Government.
Awards are allocated at three levels (Bronze, Silver & Gold) within the categories of Pub, Bar & Club. Each premise that enters is assessed and judged on a range of criteria including the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the policy on drunkenness and staff training.
Michelle Burnett, Alcohol Liaison Officer said, " The Force, is committed to tackling alcohol misuse and related crime as part of the force Policing Plan's safer Neighbourhood objective on reducing anti-social behaviour.
We rely very much on the majority of responsible licensed premises to help us to keep Fife’s town centres safe. The Best Bar None scheme is an excellent incentive for these establishments to keep striving to meet the highest standards, ultimately cutting crime and increasing safety in Fife.”
The 57 premises that have entered will be assessed to find out who will be Best Bar None before the awards ceremony in November this year.
